July 22, 2009 General Meeting Minutes
The 22 July meeting was a very informal session which centered on the subjects of traffic and safety. A general discussion was held outlining possible areas of concern to neighbors. These included:
- Controlling traffic around schools during morning start and afternoon ending
- Reporting police actions in our neighborhood
- Police coverage
- Actions we can take to help to get drivers in our area to drive safely (Radar Gun?)
- Signs to get speeders to change their driving habits
- Volunteer options with the police department (not sure it exists)
- Trimming of plants, bushes and trees to give better visibility at corners.
- Bike safety
- Crime prevention
- Neighborhood watch
- Animal safety
- Parks and our neighborhood safety from predators for our children
A number of neighbors agreed to meet in the future to further explore these subjects as part of a traffic and safety committee.
Other announcements included reminders for National Night Out 4 August (with Murdock’s neighborhood association) and the upcoming Rainbow West picnic scheduled for 23 August. A call for picnic assistance was also made!!
