The Rainbow West Picnic 2009

On Sunday, August 23 2009, the Rainbow West Neighborhood hosted another fantastic picnic! Thank you to the city of San Jose for funding this event and to Donna Hadley and the Hospitality Committee for organizing this event.

The Great Rainbow West Picnic 2008

Our picnic on Saturday 23 August 2008 at the Calabazas Park was an outstanding success. More than 150 people attended! All was free. The food consisted of Subway sandwiches, drinks, chips, cookies and side dishes and desserts brought by some of the picnickers. Nobody left hungry. People met and mixed with their neighbors, many times for the first time. It was an opportunity to visualize the makeup of the community.

Funding was provided by a grant funded through the City of San Jose Community Action and Pride grant. Ice cream was provided by Dreyers for winning a contest as an outstanding neighborhood.

Last but not least, the picnic would not have the great success it was without the efforts of our Hospitality Committee Chairman, Donna Lee Hadley and her team. Donna and team worked tirelessly to organize and implement the necessities for the picnic. Hats off to Donna and the team!!!
